NESOT's 30th Anniversary a success!

The Fall Meeting (30th Anniversary) in Portland, Maine was a great success!  We had a great turn-out of over 70 members and 10 vendors!  I would also like to extend a big thank you to Dave Cyr for providing the speakers for our meeting and doing the leg work for the meeting center.  We also had a great casting clinic on Friday with Parker Medical sponsoring it and Ken Hawkins lending a hand!

As Dave Cyr retired from Vice Presidency, we voted in a new Vice President. I would like everyone to welcome Tania Babineau as our new Vice President. Tania will be working closely with our Vendors in the future.  Gary Smith agreed to stay on as Treasurer for 1 more term so anyone interested in this position in the future please let one of the officers know.

We also celebrated the start of our 30th year of NESOT! We brought back the Master Plaster with an 80’s theme for the Friday night reception. We also have commemorative coffee mugs for sale! Please contact Jenny Cates if you are interested. Mugs are $10.00 each and will go towards the funds used for sending a member to the NAOT conference each year.

Sue Turcotte received a plaque in honor of her hard work and dedication to the continuing growth of Orthopaedic Technology. Her program at NHTI continues to grow and now offers an Associate’s Degree.

NBCOT also honored NESOT by doing a donation of $300.00 on our behalf to the American Red Cross Colorado Relief Fund. According to their letter to the Red Cross, “ This donation is being given in the honor of NESOT for 30 years of service to the profession of Orthopaedic Technology and the continuing education of Orthopaedic Technologists in the New England area.  NBCOT is a great supporter of NESOT and they attend many of our conferences-we are very fortunate that we have a great working relationship with them.

NESOT's 25th Anniversary a success!

Friday casting/splinting workshop attendance at 46. Well above the our expectations. We held an awards dinner Friday evening. Awards were handed out to Gary Smith for his continued position as Treasurer for 18 years! Sue Turcotte and Sid Rubinstein also received awards for longevity presidential officers and Dave Gallant was presented the Presidential Award for his outstanding orthopaedic commitment to NESOT and the community. Well attended by 40 people. Saturday's meeting we had over 55 people and 17 vendors! NBCOT donated $300.00 to a charity of our choice and the Barbara Bush Children's foundation was voted on. Our next meeting is being planned out right now and we'll be posting info soon. I want to thank everyone for being part of a great organization and we as officers will do our very best to see that it continues.            Dave Cyr
